SOCIAL NETWORKING sites are bringing people together, who would not see eye to eye and would not touch each other with a barge pole. In an interesting twist of things on the popular networking site Facebook, Nepal's erstwhile king Gyanendra Bir Bikram Shah, who was ousted from his crown by a Maoist conspiracy has become friends with ace foe Pushap Kamal Dahal alias Prachanda.
Pertinent to mention that it was Prachanda, who led a movement against the Nepalese monarchy to oust Gyanendra. There are five pages of the deposed king run on Facebook by different people and their identities are also not known.
One of the Facebook profiles, which is most popular shows Gyanendra interacting with public and wearing a flower garland and a smile. This profile shows 80 Facebook friends and one of these profiles belongs to Prachanda.
Pushpa Kamla Dahal popularly known as Prachanda has three different profiles on Facebook, one of which has over 1900 fans. The other two are relatively less popular and perhaps run by individuals.
Both King Birendra and Prachanda are among the most powerful men in Nepal but they have to suffer pranks at the hands of unknown people. King Birendra's profile has three pictures and it shows a bus full of dogs and one of them is tagged with his name.
Similar pictures of the king can be found on these profiles, which undoubtedly would anger his supporters. Not only the king but the Maoist leader Prachanda has also not gone unscathed at the hands of Facebook users.
In one of the pictures, the Maoist firebrand is shown as a bride getting married to former Nepalese prime minister Girija Prasad Koirala.
