hello We are students (H and W). We have F-1 visa and also we are taking classes in different university. Is that possible to join tax filling? IS anybody has any ideas about this kinds of tax filling? Help will be appreciate! thanks

go to any tax filing website and do it. doesn't matter if you both are going to same or separate universities.

Mn't sure if you are allowed to file your tax jointly when u are a Non Resident Alien. That is if you fill up 1040 NR/1040NR EZ forms. In case if u intend to fill out 1040, u should be able to do that. The instructions in the forms are comprehensive enuf to help you out.

If you file as non-resident alien, I am guessing it will be more beneficial to file as a single and claim itemized deduction ( which will be more than standard deduction). Most universities may not let you know that you can itemize and get more refund.
